I’m a working drummer influenced by rock r&b funk pop jazz and my career picked up starting in the 80’s in studios and tours from Ace Frehley to Yoko Ono and everything in between while trying to favor a creative path in my playing choices.
Some were fulfilling and some were not.
My personal "List of Absolute Monsters that I’ve worked with" includes BB King, jazz genius George Russell, Bill Evans (sax), Jim Beard, John Patitucci, plus amazing songwriting/performers Chris Whitley, Jimmy Webb, Robbie Robertson, Bill Champlin, Bruce Gaitsch, Jon Pousette-Dart and film composer Gary Chang.
In the late 90s, I regularly wrote Concepts articles for Modern Drummer Magazine imploring drummers to become more musical while performing drum clinics and festival appearances. The positive responses from those articles led to making two drum instructional DVDs, “Big Time” and “Voices In My Head” @hudsonmusic as well as as book “Inside Out: Exploring the Mental Aspects of Drumming.” @halleonard.
I always enjoy hearing from drummers that I helped as a result of my clinics and masterclasses.
